apple keyboard does not connect

My Apple keyboard does not work with my iPad in spite of cleaning the connectors several times. It will occasionally connect but increasingly it does not work. How can I fix this?

iPad Pro, iPadOS 13

If this is the Smart Folio Keyboard, take it and your iPad to your Apple Store Genius Bar. Apple quietly extended the warranty to three years for some of these keyboards.
