How to unsync folders from iCloud drive?

When I first got my Mac, there used to be a Downloads folder on my dock with a downloads arrow, like this (I had made a separate test account when I first got it and it still shows this file):

...But a while back, I accidentally deleted this folder from my dock, and at some point, the file in Finder got synced with iCloud Drive. Don't remember how this happened, I think I had two download files and one of them was synced, while the one I deleted was not? Anyway, this is what it looks like now:

Is there any way I can unsync this folder from iCloud Drive? Or get back my original downloads folder with the downward arrow that appeared by default in my dock? It was so much easier to access my downloaded files this way. Thank you.

That folder is on your Desktop. The operating system has probably already created another Downloads folder in the proper location. Go to your home directory, not the Desktop, and look for a "Downloads" folder. It should have the same down arrow on the folder icon. You can just drag this folder to the Dock. The only place you can put it is just to the left of the Trash, before the separator.

For the Downloads folder on your desktop, you can just copy those files to your real Downloads folder or just delete it if you don't need those files.
