Unsync created folder in iCloud

I've created a folder in iCloud but I don't want it synced to my MacBook Air (to save hard drive space). How can I unsync this one folder when it doesn't show in the iCloud Drive options in Preferences, but continue to sync the others?

Thank you in advance for your guidance!

Billy Stone,

They would only take space if downloaded for offline use. This will usually be shown by a cloud icon next to the document. You can also remove them by right-clicking on the document then 'Remove Download.'

Enjoy.

Hello Billy Stone,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. We understand wanting to be able to do that. We'll explain.

Folders in iCloud Drive will sync, but won't be saved locally for offline use. There would be no way to not sync the drive specifically to a device. You can learn more here: Access iCloud Drive files from your iPhone and other devices

Thanks, and enjoy your day!
