Apple Pencil tip

Is the Apple Pencil supposed to have some metal showing when it’s new. I haven’t even used it yet and there’s a small amount of metal showing.

Hello, there is not meant to be metal showing at the tip of your Apple Pencil it is a sign that it needs to be replaced. You can purchase a four pack at this link, Apple Pencil Tips - 4 pack - Apple.

I have a 1st generation pencil and no, no metal showing. If yours is brand new, I would not buy tips - I would inform Apple that you need to return it due to a defect and want a replacement.
