Restoring a backup with two factor authentication

I erased my iPhone because of storage issues, then when I went to restore a backup from iCloud it asked for the verification code sent to my phone number (on the phone I just erased). I can’t get to my texts or receive phone calls because the phone isn’t set up yet.. how can I restore from my iCloud backup?

no it’s not backed up to my computer, and the only other trusted device to my apple account is computer which cannot receive my phone calls or texts from that trusted number. I also would prefer to not wait 24 hrs for account recovery

Sounds like you may need account recovery even though you "would prefer to not wait 24 hrs" as this seems like the only viable option -- Recover your Apple ID when you can’t reset your password - Apple Support.

You’re right, I just wasn’t planning on a 2 hour project turning into 24+, and the 2 factor thing never even crossed my mind!

I actually am not sure what happened but after trying every (non-apple) device in my house just to see if I’ve ever logged into my apple account (which I haven’t), and then very nervously deciding to activate my phone without loading anything on it just for the hopes of getting a verification code and erasing again before it expires, somewhere in between all that I was able to sign in and restore. I don’t even remember typing in that code but I was so flustered and mad who really knows what happened.. but yes if none of that worked i would have given up and served my time lol.

needless to say I’ve added another trusted phone number just in case this happens again, and from everything I’ve read and heard about “other” storage issues with the last few updates, it’s probably going to happen again!
