unable to update preinstalled apps on my new macbook pro

Hi,

I dont understand why I get the error 'iMovie cannot be updated because it was refunded or purchased with a different Apple ID.' when i try to update the pre-installed apps on my brand new Macbook Pro. Was I sold a used device?

Thanks in Advance.

Click here and follow the instructions. If you can't accept them into your Apple ID and didn't customize your order with paid preloaded applications, delete and redownload them.

This occurs because preloaded applications don't come associated with an Apple ID, and generally doesn't require contacting Apple.

Hi, spoke to the Apple support team.

Apparently this issue happens with every new device, need to uninstall and then reinstall with your apple id.

Date of purchase wasnt updated by the retailer from where I bought it and hence warranty information was not appearing.

It has been updated by their support team now and the issue is resolved.
