Amazon Music app for Mac-access issue

I have an issue with Amazon technical support re accessing/logging on their Music app on my 2014 iMac and am looking for ideas .

I have two devices-a 2014 iMac running Catalina and an iPhone6s with the latest software update (13.7). Both are comfortably accepting and accessible using my Apple ID and password. I can sign in( I am already signed in!) and the iMac is indicating that my Two Stage Authentication is ON--as is the iPhone 6s. Thanks Community for previous help with this.

My issue started when attempting to open the downloaded Amazon Music for mac app( I can access this for my iPhone 6s and it is fully operational)

The application downloaded satisfactorily on the Mac and I attempted to log on. At that point I had an Amazon on screen alert notifying me that I would shortly( 80 seconds) be receiving a notification code that I should then enter which would give me full access to the app. No such code appeared. Reason? --I am not signed up for Amazon two stage authentication.

I contacted Amazon who confirmed that my Two stage Notification was indeed de-activated from my Amazon account and in any case this was an "Apple issue regarding their two stage authentication process" which I should take up with Apple support. I have properly double checked that both my devices are properly logged on to my Apple ID and their two way authentication processes are enabled.

If anyone can throw any light on what is going on and what I should try next-I would be grateful.

Its not the end of the world to  be denied access to the Amazon Music app( I can use their web service and the iOS App), but I DO have a preference for using the Amazon app on my Mac--and I am now intrigued as to why I am unable to access it..

No one here is an Apple employee and can provide a definitive answer. Apps can be removed by the developer (Amazon) or Apple can remove an app for violating their Terms of Service (TOS).

Apple does not provide support for any Apps developed by third parties. They support Apps that they develop themselves.

I downloaded the App several days ago directly from the Amazon site. I Googled the App, as suggested above, and found the latest version to download. I hope this helps.

Thanks-helpful--I am assuming you mean system preferences ? if so I can see no accessibility panel to check whether Amazon Music is there? Am I looking in the wrong place?

Furthermore Amazon are at a loss( at least the chat line technical support are) to explain to me why I am still getting an on screen alert for two stage authentification when it's not enabled.

It’s not on the Apple App Store. I rarely download directly from developers and/vendors.

I downloaded the App directly from Amazon and when installing was given a notice from Amazon that I would be receiving a text to my phone (verified with the last 2 digits of the number). I verified the number was mine and Amazon texted my phone immediately with a link to click to verify the device. I clicked the link on the phone and was taken to a webpage with a button to click verifying the device is mine.

The verification is evidently part of the apps install process and not the usual 2 step account verification. I do not have 2 step verification on my Amazon account.

It sounds like Amazon is texting the link to the wrong/old number. Try the install process again and verify the contact method.

I hope this helps.

Well I never-it turns out that the Amazon SMS alert was blocked on my iPhone 6s.....once enabled I acknowledged the Amazon SMS and the app opened.

Lesson learned-there are many reasons why Amazon might want to make official contact with their customers--would the Amazon chat line plse use common sense and not assume that all and every contact from Amazon to their customers is not necessarily to do with two way authentification.

Thanks for everyones help
