Tesla Apple Music integration

In the last Tesla software update, Apple Music integration has been added. However explicit content cannot be played although I have it allowed on every device of mine and even on Apple Music website. Anyone has any idea how to toggle explicit content filtering off?

Change content restrictions

  1. At music.apple.com , click the My Account button (it looks like a photo or monogram) in the top-right corner, then choose Settings.
  2. You may be asked to sign in with your Apple ID.
  3. Below Parental Controls, enter your four-digit passcode.
  4. If you can’t remember your passcode, click Forgot Passcode, then check the recovery email address for instructions to reset the passcode.
  5. To make changes to the Parental Controls section, do any of the following:
    • Change content restrictions: Click the pop-up menus to choose allowed ratings for music, TV shows and movies.
    • Change the recovery email: Click Edit, enter a new email address, then click Continue.
  • Change the passcode: Click Change Passcode, enter the current passcode, enter a new passcode, then click Continue.
    • You need to re-enter the new passcode to verify it.
    • Turn off content restrictions: Click the switch to turn off restrictions.

Thank you for the answer! I’ve already tried doing that. But if you look carefully it says that those settings only apply to ‘Apple Music on the web’ while the AM on Tesla media player, while HTML based, is still considered a third party app. My guess is that, as there is no way to change that setting as for now, the app must default to enable or restrict that type of content. That’s why I heard in Tesla forums that some people have those songs available and some other don’t.

Glad to hear it’s not only on my side. It comes down to stupid explicit content management in Apple Music. Each and every device or app connected to the account has to get permission to access explicit content. As Tesla hasn’t built a setting page into the app, probably those songs are blocked by default. If only there was a single button in account settings in Apple Music account. Now a new Tesla software has been released, let’s see if that is helpful.

I believe that you’re streaming Apple Music from your phone as Apple Music has been added as a native app inside Tesla media player only in the last Christmas update, from software 2022.44.25.1 on. Actually Apple Music doesn’t provide a generale toggle to enable or restrict explicit content at the account-level, so we’ll probability have to wait for the toggle to be added in a future software update, as they did with Tidal. I reached out to Apple support to discuss the issue and told me it must be on the car’s side.
