import dvd to imac

I have an iMac running Mojave with an external HP DVD drive. I received a DVD as an appendix to a book, and it's miserably slow trying to watch the various clips with the external drive. Can I copy this DVD to my hard drive and then watch it from there? If so, how do I do that?

Getting a DVD onto my iMac and splitting it into sections I had my super 8 home movies transferred to a dvd. This dvd covers eight years. I would like to get this dvd onto my iMac. DVD copy program I have a MacBook Air and an external blue ray player. I am trying to fin a program to copy DVD movies to blank DVDs. I cannot find one. Any suggestions?

Should be able to drag & drop copy it yo your Documents or Downloads folder.
