Apple Wallet Hardware Failure
I just signed up for the Apple Card, but am unable to access it in the Apple Wallet. While Apple Cash does show up, it is labeled "unavailable."
After contacting Apple Support, they claimed it is due a hardware failure related to the NFC sensor. And since my AppleCare+ has expired, they said my only option is to replace the phone (out of pocket). This is a huge bummer, especially since I can't use the Apple Card that I just signed up for!
After searching around, this appears to be a known issue at Apple for all iPhone X models manufactured prior to April 2018. Unfortunately, Apple has yet to recognize this publicly and consequently does not cover this issue under any of their service plans / recalls.
Apple, come on. You aggressively market your new credit card, but won't even acknowledge a hardware defect that prevents the customer from using it? Well, thanks for the hit to my credit score...
