Watch won’t rest or unpair

I attempted to disconnect my Apple Watch from a phone a message popped up saying impairing unsuccessful but now my watch still says it’s connected to the phone but the phone doesn’t have any Apple Watch connected. How can I reconnect to the phone to again reset? Have tried resetting on the watch but it does nothing.
