Recording with an interface into lightning jack

When recording with an interface (ie: iRig) plugged into the lightning jack how does headphone monitoring work as most of the new phones lack a separate headphone jack?

Been recording with GarageBand for quite a while with a lot of success but now a phone upgrade is being forced and I want to figure this out before I make a decision

Listening to hi-res on iPhone with lightning jack adapter: is this real ? Hello, I’m looking for a lightning to audio jack adapter to listen hi-res lossless music from my iPhone. I would like to avoir having to use the usb camera adapter plus a portable usb dc, it’s too cumbersome really, especially when you are on the move. There’s a headphone out in irig. Once you plug it to iPhone/iPad lighting the irig becomes the sound output of the phone. If you plug a mic to irig and talk or play guitar etc that is the sound input now of the IPhone/iPad.
