I can't add or update apps

My girlfriend can't update or add apps on her Iphone 6S.

She can't can't use her apple ID to add apps, the phone is looking for her dead husband's apple ID.

She really don't need a new phone just to talk or text, except for this problem.


Would resetting the phone take care of this problem and are all of her contacts saved in the cloud?

Has she signed her late husband's Apple ID out of the App Store/iTunes and signed in with her Apple ID? For the updates, one option is to delete the apps/purchases made by the other ID and download them using the new ID if desired. If necessary, check her purchases history to see which apps/purchases weren’t made by the current ID. 


Purchase History Review.   


To check to see if her contacts are in iCloud, have her go to iCloud.com/Contacts using a computer browser.


To reset the phone, she would need her late husband's Apple ID and password.
