Black screen with vertical lines

My Mac book prob suddenly went into a black screen with a few vertical lines on it yesterday as I was in a zoom meeting and I haven't been able to fix it. Help is much appreciated!!

Try connecting an external display. You may need to enable Clamshell mode by closing the lid in order to get video onto the external display.


Try a forced power off by holding down the power button or performing an SMC reset.


If the external display is Ok, then your built-in display is defective. Otherwise you likely have a defective Logic Board. Both of these will require a repair, but at least with the former you can continue using the laptop with the external display until the laptop can be repaired.
