Do I have to pay Apple every month to have music on my iPhone

I am getting monthly charges from Apple and I'm not sure what they're for. What subscriptions do I have to have in order to listen to my music on my phone? Sometimes I download music from iTunes. I just need some clarification. I don't want to have to pay money I don't have to. Thanks for your help!

apple has a music streaming service called apple music which you pay for monthly

even if you don't have that or do and wish to cancel it you can still purchase songs from itunes store and sync media from itunes on your computer to your ios devices
