Safe to Game on a MacBook Air?

Hi.

I have a MacBook Air Early 2014 and I was wondering if it is safe to use it for gaming. I've installed Windows on it with Boot Camp Assistant and the specs I see for the Mac are:

  • A 1.4 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5 processor
  • 4GB 1600 MHz DDR3 RAM
  • Intel HD Graphics 5000 1536MB

The recommended specs for the game are:

  • Pentium 4 3.0GHz+ processor
  • 2GB+ of RAM
  • Graphics: ATI Radeon HD or higher or Geforce 7 Series or higher
  • Sound Card: Any DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card

Obviously there is enough RAM, but I worry about the processor being too slow — I'm not sure what the 1.4GHz means, it doesn't seem enough. I'm also not sure about the graphics card. Should I buy a cooler to deal with overheating? I expect the Mac to overheat since simply browsing while running Windows turns on the cooler sometimes.

Thanks!

Your game requires a Pentium 4 3.0 GHz – that's a processor from 2003. I'm fairly sure your Mac that's 11 years newer can handle the load. Windows version is something else to consider.
