Stopping the iCloud storage warnings

I’m currently using 33 GB of 128 GB available on my iPad.

I do NOT want my photos or any other of my items to be backed up. I am prepared to lose all data should me device suddenly stop working.

Is there any way to prevent this pop up from popping up other than paying Apple an additional $1.29 per month? It is extremely annoying. Apple has asked for so much extra money from me for no reason whatsoever that I have vowed to never buy any other device from them.

You can stop the notifications two ways.

Buy more storage in iCloud
Delete content that syncs and/or backups with iCloud.

Given your statement about not caring if you lose everything, I think your choice is an easy one.

If you don’t do one or the other, the notification will keep popping up.

So, I have 128 GB “available” on my iPad, but Apple will not let me use more than 50 GB of it without paying them a monthly fee? (Unless I want to see a pop up every single time I look at my photos)

That sounds illegal.

Go to Settings > Your Name, iCloud, iTunes & App Store

Tap iCloud

Turn Photos and just about everything else off. You will no longer sync anything with iCloud and if your device dies, is stolen or is broken, you will not have access to any of the data which is lost.

Hmmmm...

I’ve managed to stop the other pop up warnings thanks to your instructions, but now I’m getting this error. Any idea how to fix this? Do I need to actually delete all of the photos from my iPad? That doesn’t sound right

Yes, that is what I am asking. I want to not use iCloud. How do I do that? I can’t get the message to go away.

I think you are misunderstanding the message. If you are using iCloud Photos on your device, they do take up storage space in iCloud as well as on your device. The message says that Photos, etc. are no longer updating which indicates to me that you don’t have enough space in iCloud to upload those photos.

About storage on your device and in iCloud - Apple Support

If you don’t what to use iCloud Photos and simply store the photos on your phone, that message may go away, but if you want to backup with iCloud, you will probably still need more than the 5GB free storage that Apple gives you.
