Keep losing signal when connected to Dell Monitor P2219H

I recently purchased a Dell monitor (P2219H) and connected it to my Macbook Air (2019) with a HDMI <> Usb-c cable. It worked for about a week, but it loses signal intermittently so I would have to plug and unplug the cable until it connects again. However, for the past few days, I have not been able to connect to the monitor at all. Whenever I plug the cable in, my Mac screen flashes several times but no image appears on the monitor.

It is unlikely that the monitor or cable is faulty because both works perfectly fine with my HP laptop.

Should I be using an adapter instead of a direct cable?

Can anyone help with this? Thank you!

Greetings tamago365,

We understand that you are having some difficulty using a third party display with your Mac, and we'd like to help. To begin, install all available software updates for your Mac, then follow the guidance for using an external display with your Mac.

How to update the software on your Mac

Use external monitors with your Mac

If any issues remain after completing those steps, contact the manufacturer of that display to see if they have any firmware updates available for their product.

Take care.
