This application can be found in the AppStore. It allows its users to do their part in all of this. They can report scam calls, by submitting the phone number, to its developer and adding a few lines for notes on the report upon submittal. In high-relevance to this case, it blocks popups from those phone numbers their customers have reported. Texts can be set to be received only by those in your contact list.

I'm just as persistent as the spammers, and my blocking efforts have reduced the quantity. 🤠

Unfortunately for all of us, only the phone company has the resources to put an end to this problem. While it takes little technological prowess to spoof an Outbound Caller ID, nobody can spoof SS7 Call Detail Records (Used for phone companies to collect their portion of the cost of processing a phone call from the phone company that originated the call.).

Given the time of the call, the origin and destination phone number (as you know them), and the duration of the call, your phone company can trace that call to the phone company that originated the call (anywhere in the world) and that phone company's customer ID of the actual caller. But, investigations take time and effort, which costs money. So it is less costly for your phone company to tell you that they can't do anything than to actually solve the problem.

I delete them.

I block them.

I used to report them to AT&T to block them but they use so many different numbers that it becomes impossible for anyone to keep up with them as they spoof the number.

So how many blocked contact cards do you currently have?

I estimate 500+

Most of the spam calls don’t originate in this country and phone companies aren’t law enforcement agencies.
