Apple watch 3 doesn't wake on raising wrist

My Apple Watch 3 often does not wake on a wrist-raise or tapping the screen, especially if it's been "asleep" for awhile. The screen does wake up on pushing the digital crown. The watch is not on theater mode, and the settings are correct on my iPhone. Any thoughts on this fix?

Thanks to those who helped me with this. It's great to get knowledgable responses. Here's what I've found: Siri was on and working fine (hadn't used it before on my watch--just my phone). Since then I found that if I turn off both the "wake screen on wrist raise" and "wake screen on crown up" then close settings, then open settings again and turn them both back on, it seems to get the "wrist raising" working again. It has to be both of these settings. So far, it's working again..

Hi IronwoodCountyBooks,

It sounds like your Apple Watch doesn’t wake when you raise your wrist. We're happy to assist. Since noticing the issue has a normal restart of both your Apple Watch and paired iPhone been tested? If so, we'd also recommend ensuring both devices are fully updated. The articles below can assist:

Update your Apple Watch

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If both devices are up to date and the issue continues, check out the section "Wake the Apple Watch display" from our article: Turn on and wake Apple Watch This includes ensuring the correct wrist orientation is selected.

We hope that helps.

Cheers!

Hello IronwoodCountyBooks,

Thanks for the information, and checking those details. As it's an intermittent issue do you notice it will occur after viewing a specific app? Also, were you able to complete the normal restart of your devices? Also, do you have "Hey Siri" enabled on your Apple Watch? If so, will your Apple Watch wake, or will Siri respond as expected? If needed, this article has the steps on how to check if Hey Siri and Raise To Speak are on: Hey Siri and Raise To Speak

Keep us posted.

Cheers!
