We have always shared an Apple ID but now his name appears on my phone and his number always appears in the auto fill area... when I change it to MY name, then my name goes into his phone. HELP!

you should not share Apple IDs, they were not meant to be shared. One of you needs to create a separate Apple ID, and then you can share content with Family Sharing
