MacBookPro is frozen

My MacBookPro is frozen showing only the background graphic. There is no power button (it’s activated by opening the cover), I try the Option-Command-Esc combination and the Force Quit window is displayed, but shows nothing. The mouse works, but there’s nothing to click on.

How do I resolve this situation? I desperately need to use this device!

Any and all answers are welcome. Thank you!

You don't indicate what model/year your computer is. While it might not be labeled, there is a power button which you can hold down for about ten seconds to force the computer to shut down. Then you can push it again after waiting several seconds to start it up again.
