Black screen with lock icon, password box below will not accept my password. How can I override that?or reset?


What other options do I have?

Thanks for reaching out in the Apple Communities. We understand that you’ve forgotten the firmware password on your Mac. We can help! 


For this issue, we recommend the section ‘If you forgot your firmware password’ at the bottom of this link: Set a firmware password on your Mac If you can’t remember the firmware password, the Mac would need to be brought to an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider to unlock. You'll need to bring a receipt or invoice as a proof of purchase with you.
