Pages documents locked

I have just reinstalled the OS (Mojave) and sme Pages documents which I use regularly and have never locked are now locked and asking for a password. I've done Get Info and the 'lock' box is not ticked, but the padlock at bottom right of Get Info window is locked. I clicked to unlock it but document is still locked.

You need the password to open those documents. No other option, except to select the current password protected document, and then launch the Time Machine application in your Applications folder.

It will open with the last backup on that selected document. The document will appear with a central lock symbol on the icon. Step back in time until the lock symbol disappears, and you can perform a Quick Look (spacebar) on the file to see if the contents are what you expect. Then click Restore. This will overwrite the existing password protected Pages document.

If your Pages document icon has a large, central lock icon on it, then it is password protected, and that could only be applied to the Pages document via Pages itself in a prior session. It would not show a locked status in the Get Info panel, and the lock icon in the lower-right corner of the Get Info panel is always locked for files as it protects against cavalier permission changes.

If your username access permissions on the Pages document is set to Read & Write, then there is nothing to change, and everything to remember to gain access to the document with an existing password on it.
