All the mail folders in my iCloud mail account have disappeared suddenly. Can I recover them?
In on my Mac section , if you right click on them and click on delete mail box .
Again click on delete , the folder plus its contents are erased permanently , but in your question you asked all folders disappeared , they won't unless you delete them .
Thank you, but that's not the problem. I've since redone the folders (essentially adding new ones), but the original folders were not hidden in the first place. The were all there two days ago, but suddenly disappeared with all their contents entirely yesterday. I had hoped to be able to restore the mail through time machine, but that was not possible.
Perhaps I'm using the wrong word. When I reference "folder" I'm referencing a mailbox. The "mailbox" is shown by a folder icon in my mail app. I've tried rebuilding - nothing happens. It seems that all mailboxes/folders, except the default ones, disappeared from the server.
I'm using ver 10.15.6, always update when available. My problem, I just noticed, may be an issue with the Mail app on my iMac.
I recreated the mail boxes at the top level of iCloud mail. They also showed up at the same time in what may be a corrupted "Trash" box as you can see from the screenshot. So, if I wanted to empty trash, the mailboxes were deleted both from that trash file and from the top level.
There were issues in iCloud.com server few days back , as read in the communities now it has been resolved see the link https://www.apple.com/in/support/systemstatus/
By the way is your iCloud.com mail storage exceeding , what is version of Mac used , do you always do all updates in App Store or skip them .
Sign in with Apple ID and password at www.icloud.com open mail , in folders section click on drop down arrows to view hidden folders .

Folders don't , they are created on IMAP account and mirrored in iCloud.com
