If you have older Final Cut Pro X can I get an update to still use it with Catalina?...OR do I have to buy a new one? Everything was fine in Sierra but now it doesn't work. Is there a link to go to to get an update so I can still use my copy?

You don't have to pay again.
Just login to the App Store with the same Apple Id used to buy it, and you can update, or download it.
You allowed by the license to use it on any macs that you own and control.
Did you purchase the application before from the App Store, or did the older version come with the computer? If the latter you have to buy the application using your Apple ID.
You don’t need to buy it again. Just download the current version on your updated system from the App Store.
I went to the store but it only says the price and to buy it. I am on a computer that I bought from someone else with it on. I guess I am out of luck.
