Updating Final Cut Pro 10.4.8

I'm currently running Final Cut 10.4.8 on macOS Catalina 10.15.3 on my MacBook Pro. I can update to Catalina 10.15.7 or Big Sur, and I think I'm long overdue for a Final Cut update - which isn't downloadable or visible in the App Store unless I get the 10.15.6/later update. I'm wondering if it's safe for me to get Catalina or Big Sur, and then update Final Cut. My last mistake was updating to Catalina first, which left me unable to open Final Cut and caused a huge debacle.

Also for many months I've had issues exporting from Final Cut. It hasn't been able to export to external drives or flashdrives, despite having full permissions to my knowledge. This is my main reason for wanting the update, hopefully it resolves those issues.

Thank you Al, this solved my problem! Final Cut was not selected in that folder, not sure how that happened or what caused this issue in the first place. Nonetheless I can successfully export to my drives!

I'm editing a four-hour feature film so as you can imagine this was a lifesaver. Thank you so much!
