So what if a person accidentally opened up a spam message link in iPhone messages? What should I do?

Opening such a message will not hurt the device.

spam text links so I opened a spam text on my iPhone 8+, it said "I shouldn't have waited so long to send this but here it is" and there was a link, I went to report it through Verizon and it said to copy the message when I held down the message is opened the link, before It loaded all the way I closed it and shut my phone off...
