contacts were not recently backuped to Icloud, although there is still space (they should be the first to backup !)
contacts used by Whatsapp disappeared from contact list. Within whatsapp they exist as numbers only. Adresses removed as well :(
Any hints ?

Contacts used by WhatsApp disappeared from contacts ! One can see only phone numbers in WhatsApp.
So, once contact is used in WhatsApp is eaten ! You may create it again, since you still have phone number, however you lost address, etc
Very weird !
