Mail - bcc question and junk

I bcc myself on all emails so the string stays in my inbox, recently all emails I send started to go into "junk". When I changed the filter settings to allow all emails to go into my inbox, those I send now go into my inbox BUT mail still thinks they are junk (and I have to click 'not junk'). My email is already in my contacts. I am stumped.

Hey, Ajstrahl.

We understand that your BCC'd emails are getting automatically routed to your Junk folder, even after changing your filter settings.

Check out this guide and see if it has any other steps that may help change this behavior.

If the account is not an iCloud mail account, then contact your email service provider for additional assistance.

Cheers!

Thank you so much for the reply and suggestion. It is not on an iCloud Account causing the problem (doesn’t happen with my iCloud or Gmail). When I asked my host provider they said it was an Apple Mail issue, suggested I use Outlook Not Mail as the account is on Office365. After I spent 2.5 hours on the phone with Apple support, still no solution. It only happens on my MacBook (not phone or iPad). Just driving me crazy as It just started out of nowhere after working perfectly for years. Thanks again... Anyone else have suggestions?

Three Thoughts:

  • View the Help Menu in Outlook:

See what you can find in there. Search for keywords like "filter", "Safe List", and "BCC".

  • Remove the Account - Add it Back:

If changes have been made since, then you may need it all to re-sync.

  • Add yourself to the Safe List - But...

This time - do so on your eMail Provider's site - not on Outlook.

- what are X-Spam Headers and is there a way to edit them?

They are attached by an email server as the message passes through the server. There is nothing you can do about it.

Your email doesn't necessarily go from your email provider's server directly to your recipient's server. It could pass through many email servers. I would doubt it is your Microsoft server, but it could be the recipient's email server, or one that the message passed through.

Not sure why, but some email servers think use of bcc indicates spam.
