3rd Gen. Ipod not working

I have a third generation iPod classic that I am trying to resurrect. It seems to be searching for a file and keeps restarting. When I push and hold the Menu and centre button, I get an Apple support message. Any ideas how to get this going?

It seems like all of the starting data has been wiped clean.

Hi Radamson1955,

Thanks for reaching out through Apple Support Communities. We'd love to help in any way we can with your iPod classic.

We've got a great resource to share with you that has troubleshooting steps. Let us know if this helps, in the section titled, "If your iPod turns on but gets stuck during startup":

If your iPod won't turn on or seems frozen

What happens when you attempt to restore using a computer?

Have a great day!
