Why does iMac update when Automatically is unchecked?

Quite frustrating for this computer to just restart out of the blue while i am working on something. Luckily my VPN stopped it. Why on earth is the software trying to update when i have uncheked Automatically keep my Mac up to date???

Even if auto-update is turned on it is not normal or expected behavior for your iMac to restart “out of the blue”. Something else is going on. First thing would be to run Disk Utility to ensure your boot drive is okay. Second would be to try toggling the option in System Preferences->Software Update. Third would be to download the Catalina “Combo Update” and install. Combo updates contain every change ever made to Catalina since the original release. The combo update can sometimes correct glitches that have worked their way into the system.
