iphone xs max sliding issues and keys not working

Have an Iphone XS Max running ios 13.7 with a clean install all default settings and am having issues getting the sliding touch to work when trying to answer calls or shutdown the phone. Also the D/X key's are barely working. It's probably the screen going out I just don't want to pay $329 for a 2 year old device & get a screen replaced when the device screen has no cracks or visible damage. Any ideas to try?
