Currently on an iPhone 11 and have my own series 3 (GPS). I'm reading family setup works with series 4 and up (only GPS + Cellular). I want to be sure i can keep using my watch as is but add another for my child.

Answered through a specialist chat - you can have a Series 3 GPS managed through the Watch app on the iphone and have the new (Series 4 or above, GPS + Cellular) watch managed through the Family Setup.

It will only work on the GPS + Cellular version of the Series 6 and the Series SE, not the GPS model alone and no version of the Series 3

I saw that and wondered if using Family Setup excluded me from whatever is considered the normal setup that I have to run my Series 3. Asked differently, can you have a watch (e.g., Series 3) set up outside of Family Setup? And if so, can you have 1 each set up outside of Family Setup and 1 inside Family Setup?

With the new family setup, can I have a GPS Series 3 work as it currently does (for me), but add a new Watch for my kid (under family setup)?
