Just as the title states, is there a way to mark all the text messages I receive in the Messages app on the Macbook Pro as read? I get a lot from work and have 160 unread according to the Messages app at the time I am writing this.

There is currently no way to do so. You can ask Apple for the feature:

If you have an iOS device and your Mac is signed into the same Apple ID, you can mark conversations as read there and that will push to your Mac.
