MacOs Calendar app search not working well

Hello

When I try to look for past events nothing appears, even though I am sure they exist. Only future events appear.

I need to find stuff in the past.

Please help

Thanks

Thanks for getting back to us with that information, fjviana. It's helpful.

How to rebuild the Spotlight index on your Mac -- Since searching for past events doesn't provide the results, rebuild the Spotlight index.

How to use safe mode on your Mac -- If rebuilding the Spotlight index didn't resolve the issue, restart your Mac in safe mode and see if they can be located. Once you've determined if it works or not in safe mode, restart your Mac normally, then refer to the information below:

"If the issue continues in safe mode

If the issue continues while in safe mode, or your Mac restarts several times and then shuts down while starting up in safe mode, you should reinstall macOS and make sure that your Apple software and third-party apps are up to date.

If the issue doesn't continue in safe mode

If the issue doesn't continue while in safe mode, leave safe mode by restarting your Mac normally. Then test for the issue again. The issue might be resolved.

If the issue returns after leaving safe mode, startup items are probably at fault. Apps can install such items in numerous places, and they aren't always easy to find or recognize. For that reason, you should first make sure that you've installed any available updates for your Apple software and third-party apps.

If updating your software doesn't help, try any of these solutions:

  • Test your login items.
  • To learn whether software in your user account is causing the issue, set up a new user account, then log in to it and try to reproduce the issue in that account.
  • Unplug all accessories from your Mac, including printers, drives, USB hubs, and other nonessential devices. You could have an issue with one or more of those devices or their cables.
  • Reinstall macOS.

If you still need help, please contact Apple Support.'"

Cheers!

Greetings, fjviana.

It appears that you're unable to locate past events in the Calendar application on your MacBook Pro. You're only seeing future events, and we're glad to help with this.

If you accidentally deleted your calendars, bookmarks, or contacts from iCloud -- If you're using iCloud to sync your calendar events, you may be able to restore your calendar from an earlier version. Review the information under "Restore your calendars from an earlier version".

Add or delete calendar accounts on Mac -- If you're not using iCloud, check the account that you're using, then check the account online to see what is available.

Use Time Machine to restore deleted files or older files -- If you backed up your MacBook Pro using Time Machine during the period that missing, see if you're able to locate them in the backup made during that time.

Let us know how that goes.

Take care.

Hello SnickZ

Thank you for you input, but unfortunately that is not the case. I do have hundreds of past events in my calendars (both computer and iCloud). They just do not appear as a result when I do a search.

I have now realized that this just happens with a particular calendar among six.

Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks a million
