Saved search for kind = "PowerPoint Document" doesn't work from sidebar

Steps:

  • Finder
  • Type ppt in search bar and then choose kinds "PowerPoint Document"
  • Results display just fine
  • Click "Save" from under the search box and give search a name (leave "Add to sidebar" checked)
  • Click on new saved search in the sidebar
  • Window opens with nothing displayed

I'm running Catalina on multiple macs. The same thing happens on multiple macs.

I am able to save other searches to the sidebar and they work just fine. I can even save a search for name = "ppt", but this brings back more results than I am interested in.

Thanks to the community in advance for any insights on this issue!

Select the saved search and use the Gear menu to Show Search Criteria.

Change it from Kind is Other to Kind is Presentation. Save it.

You can also leave it as Other and change "Document" to "Presentation". That would allow you to find just Powerpoint presentations as opposed to both PowerPoint and Keynote (or any other "presentations").
