Turn off / disable App Library in iOS 14

Is there a way to disable the App Library, so that I don’t have to see it at all? I don’t have many apps, don’t need them categorized, and don’t need to search them, so I’d prefer to just turn it off altogether so that I don’t see it if I happen to swipe right too many times. Thanks!

Thanks but Nope. That’s set to ignore the library as much as it will allow. These weren’t New apps. I’ve had them for many months. These were hidden by the update. Buried in the library and no where else on my device. I had to manually click hold them and add them back to my home screen one by one. An option that doesn’t exist if the app is already on the home screen. It was a stupid thing to need to do. Also the categorization is completely arbitrary and not editable at all. If it was customizable it would be much better than the regular way. But no. No options to make it useful.

I'm realistic, not narrow minded. But whatever. You can moan and whine like a child all you want here on this user to user only forum. It doesn't change the fact you cannot alter or remove the App Library. Perhaps iPhone is no longer the best cell phone for your needs.

Ps: I do give you the most creative award for an excuse about why the App Library needs to be removed. No one else here has used operating their phone from inside their pants pocket without seeing where they are touching the screen is highly creative!

Apple decided to give you a second option. It does not replace or remove any existing options. It just adds new ones. That you don't have to use.

I don't agree with your last sentence. Now, when you want to delete an app, you have to confirm twice instead of once as before (now the first alert asks you if you wanna delete the app from the phone, or just move it into the App Library).

You should let Apple know how much of an inconvenience that is to you. Use the feedback link previously posted.

That's patently false.

Ok - I digress. We aren't forced to use it. We are, however, forced to tolerate it.

Here's one easily recognizable example of many:

Anyone who hasn't memorized exactly what their last page looks like but knows that in a group in the upper right corner of their last page is an app they are looking for, will swipe first to the library and then back before they can check the group their intended app is in. Arrogant judgement may declare this is a bad way to navigate, and I might even agree. However, that's irrelevant unless you also accept that the forced imposition of the app library itself is also equally as arrogant.

I personally don't have that problem, but we must all admit that it would only have taken a first year programmer to add an off switch in settings for the app library, and anyone with any sense would never have missed that easy addition. Therefore it's clear this is intentionally a forced usage feature (for some reason no one can figure out) which is the only thing anyone on here is mentioning their distaste for.

Not sure why you think any of us users care if you go Android? If you think Android is a better option for you, that's why there's free choice.

Whether you appreciate or don't appreciate the App Library, complaining about it here is a waste of your time. Apple doesn't actively participate here, so your complaining gets you nothing.

Let Apple know how you fee via this link --> https://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

Personally, the App Library to me is simply nothing worthy of angst. It's there. I don't need or use it. Problem solved.

iPhone should provide the feature to disable? Can Apply tell us why App Library is mandatory?? We know how to group them? Don’t we

Apple isn't here as has been stated over and over in this thread. Apple isn't going to respond to you or anyone in this thread.

We don't speak for Apple. If you think Apple should give you an option for anything, you need to tell Apple directly. You can use this link --> https://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

It doesn’t ruin my day, because I’ve found a solution. Create a “false” page so that I never go far enough to see it. But keep in mind, in the general public there are people who have mental disabilities that use common devices that it COULD cause issues for. Those with severe OCD complications or someone with heavy autism that just can’t handle these bugs people call “features” I remember when Apple Music was forced down your throat, I bought android, but people with these issues couldn’t cope with an android or with the changes, some people had children under 10 having complete mental breakdowns because they couldn’t access their own stored files. Just because you are a healthy, conscious person doesn’t mean everyone is, and you should rag on people for that. You don’t know what they may be facing. A sliver to one person is not a big deal, they change a shirt. To others, they don’t have the mental capacity and it could SEEM life threatening to them. As these devices are mass produced for general populations these things NEED to be considered moving forward. The “IM AMERICAN AND IM PERFECT AND IT DOESNT MATTER TO ME SO IT DOESNT MATTER PERIOD” attitude does NOT work in this current state of society.

As someone else stated earlier the swipe out typically sends you scrolling downward. Accidental swipe left to go in, 5 intentional right to attempt to get out. Horrible design.

Sounds more like your swipes are angled to one side if you are getting to App Library unintentionally, and have a hard time getting out.

I've never ever swiped in to App Library by mistake. I would need to swipe again from Right to left to access App Library, and if I'm on my last page there's no reason for me to do that.

If you are trying to swipe down to bring up search or the Control center, and getting App Library instead, then you are not swiping down, but at an angle. I have to try really hard to angle a swipe to get in to App Library when trying to access Search or Control Center from the last page.

And getting out, only takes a single swipe. Again, if the apps scroll when you swipe, it means your swipe is angled too much.

Its just a straight swipe from left to right to get out of App Library.

Hi All,

I hope there will be a future update to switch off the app library. Apps seem to be in random app library folders. Also I have apps in my own folders anyway.

Thanks

Here is a truly AMAZING solution!!!!!

IGNORE the App Library!!!!!

It’s on the last page of your Home screen, so don’t scroll the Home screen past your last page and you never have to see it!!!!

And HORRORS!!!! If you accidentally scroll to it, you can always immediately scroll back before it contaminates you!!!!

I never see it on my phone!!!!!
