Updated to iOS 14 and cannot verify email

I just finished installing iOS 14 onto my iPhone XR and I'm trying to go through the process of two-factor authentication. An email with the verification code got sent to my current email I have access to, I entered it correctly and a pop-up comes up saying, "Cannot Verify Email: This email address is not available. Choose a different address." I've tried this with 6 different codes already and same thing.


No, I am NOT trying to change my email during this time because my "rescue email" is already set up.

I do not want to make a new email address just to gain access back into my phone.


I've also turned off my iPhone and turned it back on hoping to refresh to process but it's still giving me the same prompt. Any solutions would be greatly appreciated.

On my iPhone. I cannot access email and on other apps where you would normally be able to share things (such as by message, WhatsApp, email etc), I cannot do so by email anymore. Everything e-mail related on my iPhone simply does not work at all since updating to iOS 14. If I want to see my email or send something from another app/website to my email, then I have to power up my laptop (non-Apple) instead. iOS 14 has killed my email.

I have this same problem, and it is quite baffling.


 is so good about so much of their design, but sometimes their security interface design isn't very helpful. I, also, have a situation where my email address reports a problem when I try to use it to set up the two factor authentication system. On the iphone it kept telling me the email address could not be verified after I tapped in the security code they sent me (I did this 5+ times), and in the appleid.apple.com web site it reports " This email address is not available. Choose a different address." when I try to use that email address.


I have no idea why they don't like this address. It works. They send the verification codes to it successfully. (shrug)


I also found I was being forced to change my appleid from my *@mac.com address (messages sent to that bounced, so I guess mac.com addresses are dead).


And I couldn't use the email address I'd evidently set up as my "notification email".


Fortunately, I have one more address... so, I was able to get this to work. But I'm a bit frustrated to have been forced to have my security linked to non-primary email accounts, and to have to have four email addresses (notification, two factor, icloud, and the one they don't recognize) to make this all work. :-/
