Hi All,
I am trying to upgrade my Series 3 Apple watch to IOS 7 but keep getting an error that I require 3.1GB of free space. The issue is if I remove all my apps I still dont have enough space.
Is this an issue with the update or am I doing something wrong?

You have to reset your watch as new, and then reload from backup and then download the update. However, my series 3 watch updated, and has now been running into multiple problems that apple is quietly saying a few series 3 owners are running in to. It turns off randomly, and I have to turn it back on. The battery is draining twice as fast as normal. I lose all 'Sharing' friends and have to reload them. Throughout the day, all my stats (move, exercise, stand) will go to zero and start over. I'd be tempted to say to wait for the ios 7.1 update before loading, especially since practically every nice feature of the ios 7 is for series 4 and newer.

I'm running into the same problem - I tried your suggestion - but I'm still short on space. I've been reading how to delete apps off the watch to create enough space, but I cannot seem to find anything else to delete.
I think I may do a clean nuke and pave option.
Fingers crossed that works.
if you unlink the watch, do you lose all of your fitness app data/history? i am not able to install 7.1 but there are NO apps to delete to make space because i had the same issue with 7.0 on my series 3. i got that one, but now i know i can’t make anymore space. i’m not willing to lose my fitness history for an update i probably don’t need.
Try doing a forced restart of your Watch (hold down both buttons until you see the Apple logo then let go of the buttons) and try again.
Hi Scott! You can try to unlink your Applewatch and link it again. The new configuration will apply the latest version of WatchOS 7.
I had to delete the file under usage. I unlinked a million times and it didn’t nothing. General>usage>software update. This worked for me but I’m missing features like the hand washing app.

I had the same issue and removed some of my alerts and reduced the photos and had 3.1 usage. The update was working until the end and gave me an error that it could not install.
