Turn App Library off?

Anyway to disable the app library in ios14?

I don’t want it, my apps are already organized on my Home Screen.

The App Library is a feature only there for users who wish to use it, sadly apple has no way to disable the App Library at the minute but until a feature like this is added you can not swipe over to that screen, to get back home screens that have disappeared go into jiggle mode by holding an app down and clicking edit home screen and click the dots at the bottom of your screen and check or uncheck the home screens that you want visible.

ADB86, just what help is it you are looking for?

As Idris correctly points out there are no interaction points given on this forum. Idris and I have been on this forum for years, actually helping users with technical support issues which can be addressed with a resolution. For that USERS award us points by saying we either solved their problem or saying we helped with their problem. On occasion, the forum hosts will mark our answer as Apple Recommended, where we get a few points.

For the discussion at hand on this particular topic, let's make note of a few things:

  1. Everyone on this forum is a user
  2. No one on this forum created the App Library or has any control over the App Library
  3. You and others are here asking how to remove the App Library
  4. The answer is you can't and that's the correct answer
  5. We can't change that
  6. You can't change that
  7. We have recommended if you don't like it to contact Apple via the feedback link
  8. The fact remains, complaining about it here will get you nothing

So just what is it you're doing here? How is bashing me and Idris going to get you more control over App Library? Complain to Apple.

I mean, has Apple done an UX eval if anyone at all uses this feature? It would seem like 99.9% of users organize their apps the way they like them.

This is a user-to-user forum. No one here can tell you exactly what Apple has done. What I can tell you is that people have been asking for new ways to organize apps for years. This is a first iteration of a new feature and it's likely to change as time goes by. Fortunately, if you don't like it, you don't have to interact with it.

You can let Apple know your thoughts here:

Playing with this for a little while I have found that you can hide entire home pages. Already. But you still can’t hide the App Library. Simple solution add the apps library to edit pages screen. Simply hold your finger on the screen to open the edit Home Screen option (where all the apps start jiggling to be able to delete them). Click on the dots at the bottom of the page. That represent how many pages you have. And it will bring up the edit pages screen. Uncheck the arrows for the pages you want to hide. I like this. This is cool. Now just add the apps library page to this screen and done.

Maybe try reading my whole post before replying IdrisSeabright. The issue with hiding apps in folders now is that THEY’RE STILL DISPLAYED IN GIANT TILES IN THE APP LIBRARY. You can’t hide the App Library, and you can’t even choose which apps it “features” previews of. And yes, the next time a friend or family member needs to borrow my phone for a minute, having to be like, “Sorry, I can’t let you look up that restaurant phone number...I don’t let people use my phone,” seems like an excellent plan.

And yes, I’ve submitted the feedback to Apple. Although I’m not sure if it’ll do any good since they don’t even have an option for iOS 14 from their drop down list of software yet.

Sorry, but complaining about a feature you have no control over, you can't modify, you can't turn off, nor do you HAVE TO USE, is simply pointless.

The purpose of this forum is to ask technical support questions. This is not a chat, moan, complain or whine site.

The question was asked at the very beginning of this thread which was "anyway to disable the app library?" The answer is NO, YOU CANN'T DISABLE THE APP LIBRARY. Thus technical support question asked and answered correctly.

Anything further is a waste of time except to advise people who are not in love with App Library to provide feedback to Apple, who is NOT on this forum.

If it's the App Library feature you don't like, you don't turn it off. But you can certainly use the feedback link which has been posted numerous times throughout this thread to let Apple know your thoughts.

Personally, it doesn't bother me the App Library is there at all. I don't need it. I organize my apps on my own. So there's no reason for me to use it. It's just there, sitting all by itself to be seen or used WHEN you swipe past all the home screen pages you create on your own.

To me it's just for lazy people that don't want to clean up their room by themselves. You can easily do it yourself with folders in ways that make sense to you. With app library it's like mommy Apple putting your underwear in your jeans drawer... The groupings rarely make sense.

Or, you can use computers to take care of annoying drudgery. See how I did that without snidely judging the choices of others?

How about a toggle in settings that just hides that screen?

As no one here in this user-to-user forum can do what you want, you should probably tell Apple:

We want it gone and we're making noise, direct to Apple and in other forums, in the vain hope that they will finally get a clue.

[Edited by Moderator]

You can make all the noise you want here on this user to user only forum. Apple isn't here and won't hear your noise or even care about your noise.
