How do I see the Apple Pencil Battery Level in iPadOS 14 on my iPad?
on ipadOS 13 I could see it in the Today view in a widget. The widget can’t be added back
Even when I plug it into my iPad I can’t see what level it’s at. Aside from having to look in settings, was hoping to see it on my Home Screen.

Right. Just like the ring for the iPad itself, the green ring would be incomplete if the pencil was not fully charged.

thanks for your response. It’s just not the same at all. It was a battery icon with percentage. It never needed to be connected to show the level. It just had to be nearby.
If I connect it, I still can’t see how much.
It will show my pencil but not the percentage I have left
if I put my pencil away, my iPad shows the charge level

Would you care to explain how please. These are the two choices I can figure out:
First one shows just the ipad and %:
As soon as I add the pencil, the display changes to this automatically (and I cannot find any way to change that):
I also cannot find a way to get a small unintrusive display - it is BIG and SPLASHY (tacky).
The battery level of the Apple Pencil should be shown in the same Battery widget as the iPad's battery, if the Pencil is connected at the time. That's how it works on mine, anyway. Pretty much the same as on iPadOS 13.
I agree; I cannot see the battery level. I can see a tiny little charge sign in that circle (I guess to show that it is charging, which is irrelevant = you plug it in > it charges.
Another unnecessary "feature".
Aside from that, I wish Father Apple would not assume that I want all of those widgets. I'd rather add than having to spend 20 minutes trying to get rid of them - I finally did.
I edited the widgets. The photos app is so confusing. It makes me want to just clean it up and delete half my albums! I didn’t need a side panel of lists, lists that make no sense.. Each list has even more lists.
I had to turn off to keep on home screen and got rid of every one of them except the battery. I'd like to know what logic the engineers used while deciding on the size. Additionally, pretty soon reading will no longer be a necessary basic skill - you just need to be able to point at an icon.
I’ve not updated my phone yet. I’m still muddling through figuring out this iPad and my Apple TV. I need my phone for important stuff today, last thing I need is something not working or me not knowing how it works
The pencil does cool things though :)
I just updated the iPhone; the widgets are present, but are occupying the first page. You regular home page with all the app icons is the same. Getting rid of the widgets was quicker and easier than on the iPad.
The widget can be edited to show the percentage if you want that. In fact it can be edited to look like it used to if you don't like the rings.

Great isn’t it? The new “compact” Widgets, being designed to show more information, actually consume more screen space than the old to display the same info...
