Im in the US. Why does it ask me for my passport number?

Have you read anything about actblue in the news lately? Do you have your region set for outside the US?
It could be an issue with their website. try erasing your browser cache.
I can only test it by making another contribution. I’ve reached out to ActBlue

No. I haven’t read about ActBlue recently.
My address entries In Wallet/Apple Pay/ Shipping Address contained some addresses with country USA. Those would abort if the passport number wasnt completed. But other addresses had the country field as “United States” and using those with Apple Pay on the Mac caused the contribution to go through without resort to the passport requirement.
if I made the contribution on my phone I was never asked for a passport number.
I tried to make a contribution in actblue using Safari 14. It said i was calling fom outside US and asked for passport number
