iOS 14 when tapping widgets the app won’t open

if I tap my calendar or weather widget the app itself won’t open. It did it at first when I installed the new OS but then stopped. Now if I want to open the actual app I have to long press the widget then when the edit menu comes up if I tap the widget again the app will open. Also I have noticed that the calendar and weather widgets are very low resolution? Has anyone else had these issues?

Greetings Dustyh78,

Thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities! It seems widgets aren't opening the associated app when tapped, and you're noticing the resolution seems to be low.

Test the behavior after restarting your iPhone, and after deleting and setting up the widget:

If the issue persists, test the behavior after reinstalling iOS. Reinstalling iOS won't cause any data loss. However, it's recommended to have a backup: How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

Although titled for a different issue, you can see how to reinstall iOS within the following article: If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Kind regards.
