Date is missing as complication in Watch OS7

I mainly use the Activity Digital watch face with the date appearing at the bottom. Date no longer shows up as a complication option at any of the positions for watch faces. Is this specific to Apple Watch Series # or is it a Watch OS 7 bug for all Apple Watches?

This is a ridiculous answer. I must download the Apple Calendar app to see the date on my watch? This was never the case prior to this most recent update. Why? What is the purpose? I cannot use this calendar, now I have to keep the app to know what the date is?

With previous versions of watchOS the Date complication was independent. With watchOS 7 it's part of Calendar. When adding the Calendar complication Today's Date can be selected. If Calendar was removed from the paired iPhone, it will also be missing from the Apple Watch.

if you have removed it from your phone, like I had, go to the App Store and look it up and download it.

I just had this today. Downloaded the calendar app to my phone. Kept trying from my phone and it wouldn't show up in my app list. But then I went onto my watch (which did have the calendar app on the screen with all the apps now). I did the long press on my watch face, edited it, and was able to select the calendar as a complication to go into the face where it had been before. But I had to do it on my watch, not my phone.

I agree, this is ridiculous. Why make something more complicated than it was before? I don’t use Apple’s default calendar so I removed it. Makes no sense to incorporate such a simple feature, the date, into an unnecessary app. Just another example of apple forcing its users to use their products only. Once my watch and phone expire, I’m switching to Android products. Already went back to Windows when my Mac died.

And you still don't have to use it. It just needs to be on your phone. You just have to leave in stored somewhere in a folder you never look at (or the App Library). Not complicated at all!

Also, never had Apple calendar on my iPhone. But, did have the date & day of the week on my Apple Watch before last 2 “update”. Don’t need another calendar on my phone. I do NEED date & day on my watch!
thanks

Apple changed where it gets the date information to is uses information from the Calendar app. Things change. This is one of them.

If you need the data on your Apple Watch, then install the Calendar app.
