Date is missing as complication in Watch OS7

Bingo! Didn’t even know that I deleted the calendar app. Then after downloading it I just hid the app in the App Library, and it’s out of the way. Thanks.

With previous versions of watchOS the Date complication was independent. With watchOS 7 it's part of Calendar. When adding the Calendar complication Today's Date can be selected. If Calendar was removed from the paired iPhone, it will also be missing from the Apple Watch.

if you have removed it from your phone, like I had, go to the App Store and look it up and download it.

It’s a bit tricky. Go to the watch app. Make sure you have added calendar to the apps and dock.

‘Go to your watch face and one of the complications. Not all watch faces will let you add the calendar.

‘For the calendar, there is an option to add the calendar OR the date. Be sure to check “date.”

Apple changed where it gets the date information to is uses information from the Calendar app. Things change. This is one of them.

If you need the data on your Apple Watch, then install the Calendar app.

Couple people have asked about this, it seems like you need Apple's Calendar app. Make sure you didn't remove it.

Make sure your phone is updated to 14.0.1 and watch updated to 7.0.1

If needed, you can delete and reinstall the iCalendar on the phone and make sure it is active on your watch. Took me 3 days to get this to work but that was just before the updates listed above.

Did you delete the pre-installed Calendar app from your iPhone? If so, re-install it. That will return the day/date complications to your Watch.

No one says you have to use the Apple Calendar app. It just has to be installed. Just leave it in the App Library and ignore it.

I also had this issue on my Series 3. Guess when i installed Google Calendar last year it also removed the default Apple Calendar. I couldn't resolve this issue with just a reinstallation of Apple Calendar, i had to uninstall Apple Calendar and Google Calendar, then reinstall Apple Calendar!

Thankfully google got me the answer and took me to this discussion but you need the OG calendar which I removed so I had to re-add it

This is a ridiculous answer. I must download the Apple Calendar app to see the date on my watch? This was never the case prior to this most recent update. Why? What is the purpose? I cannot use this calendar, now I have to keep the app to know what the date is?

That wasn’t a ridiculous answer. It is the correct answer. I agree it is ridiculous that Apple changed this. But the correct answer cannot be ridiculous....
