Widget on bottom row of screen ios14

My experience actually started the day after I updated. After talking to an apple rep. I figured it out... apparently, a widget can only sit in 1 of 3 positions, either at the top, middle, or bottom of a page. Meaning in order to have a widget at the bottom of a page you need to have a minimum of 3 rows plus 1, for a total of 4 rows of apps before the widget can sit at the bottom. Or like you said, 2 rows for it to sit under the apps in the middle of the page.

The way I’m able to get the widget at the bottom of the screen is to have 4 rows of apps. I had deleted one of my apps and it that made up the last row, so when I did that, the widget wouldn’t go to the bottom, so had to get a new one. https://share.icloud.com/photos/0UN-EhZwGRnBIWfcoel-Aci9g

I think what helped me was to update. After that I think you have to have at least 2 rows app icons before the widget icon can be placed under it

Did anyone figure out why the widget won’t stay at the bottom of the screen?

I recently started experiencing this as well. I’ve had my maps widget at the bottom of my apps for over a year and all of a sudden out of the blue it started doing this the other day.

Makes sense, I think that corresponds to every 2 rows or so. I'm sure it depends on what size the widget is as well. Hopefully other people find our convo helpful.

I discovered a way to sort of do this by accident -- the positioning system won't allow a widget to displace less than two apps. So if your bottom row of apps only has one app, you can put a widget below that, but only on the left.

Here's hoping we get grid positioning at some point.

I was able to reproduce the problem, very strange indeed. What I did find is that if you remove all apps from that page back into the library, you can put the widget first and then insert back all the apps above it. It's a workaround.

Note: remember that you can move multiple apps by holding one down and clicking with another finger to select.

I was incorrect in my first response. I was able to put a widget at the very bottom of the screen, just above the Dock.

I don't think that's an option. I think it has to go at the top.

Even without displacing the apps, it won’t let me. I keep trying to move this widget to the bottom of the screen, below all of the apps, and it just moves it to the middle

How did you do that?

I tried doing this. Are you sure it still works? Can you give more detailed steps?
