Have the older version of airpods. Charge in case for several hours. Sometimes only the right one works. Sometimes only the left. Usually they both will not work after charging. I do the "forget and reset" routine a few times and sometimes they will both work. Why does this happen?

Thanks! I had done most of those steps. Because the audio failures happened sporadically in either the right or left airpod, I tried charging just one pod at a time and that seemed to help. I discovered that sometimes when I charged both for 8 hrs, only one or the other was not fully charged, even tho the little “charged” video showed 100% for the airpods and the case. I think the problem may have been with the charging case.
