connection doctor

I recently had to change the server setup for my email as part of my providers upgrade. I deleted old account on mail and via System Preferences -> Internet Accounts., but when I recently had a problem connecting, Connection Doctor still showed, in addition to the new servers, the old SMTP account.

  1. How can I be sure that this old account isn't "hidden" somewhere on the Mac?
  2. How do I remove this old SMPT server from Connection Doctor?

Hi jeremy_v,

Thanks for your feedback.

As I indicated in my original post, I'd already deleted the account via the mail app and Systems Preferences -> Internet Accounts, but the account still exists in Connection Doctor. The Mac has been restarted several times since I posted, and I can confirm that the situation is unchanged.

Hey there, WKH!

Thanks for reaching out in Apple Support Communities! If we understand correctly, you deleted an old email account on your Mac, but still see the account/server when using Connection Doctor.

If you open the Mail app, choose Mail > Preferences > Accounts, do you still see this account listed there? If so, follow the steps to remove the account in this support article:

Add or remove email accounts in Mail on Mac - Apple Support

If it still appears in Connection Doctor, go ahead and restart your Mac, then check again.

Feel free to post an update for continued support from the community.

Take care!
