We are getting this same message, saying our security is set to "WPA/WPA2 (TKIP)" and we should use "WPA2 (AES)" or "WPA3", but our router is in fact set to "WPA2-PSK (AES)".
Is it possible the error message is simply wrong?
I am using WPA2 Personal
and still get the “Weak Security” notification
Change it to WPA2 Personal only. Typically, home users don't need to use the Enterprise option.
WPA2 Personal should be OK. It usually means WPA2(AES); it’s not an official designation, however. But if it’s very old (more than 5 years) it may need to be replaced.
With my 6s, I had to turn WiFi off and then back on (in the phone's settings), then shut the phone down and turn it back on before it would finally stop whining about security.
Did you get a response? I have the same problem and not just my own router but everywhere I go. I cannot ask other people to change their settings.
IOS14 update has stopped me accessing mine and other WiFi signals properly when they worked perfectly ok before.
Please explain why you have done this.!!!
Weak Security is just an excuse!!!
It is stopping me from accessing certain sites and apps. I cannot access facebook for example.
I cannot update other people’s routers
See if there is an option for WPA2 without WPA. And does your router have separate settings for the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands?
Try forgetting the network, restart the phone, then reconnect.
I try to use my WiFi and it’s saying weak security
You should be set to WPA2-PSK AES.
WPA/WPA2-Personal is not as secure because it has a WPA fallback.
I had this problem also. I have an Archer A7, the security was set at WPA2, still got the error. After I updated the firmware, the issue resolved.
upgrade your firmware.
I actually changed both the router name and the SSID, sorry for not being clear. Did you only change the SSID?
