I’m having issue with the news widget. It say no stories, but the news app works fine and I can see there are stories there. I’ve tried all the different widget sizes, tried restarting my phone, tried on wifi, on 3g and on LTE. Nothing works.
I have an iphone 11 pro running ios 14 (but I had the same issue in ios 13). I’m in canada.

Try to reinstall the app. You might need to allow it to run in the background. You can enable that in settings app. Scroll down and click on the app and switch on allow background refresh. If none of that works the MSN news app is not bad. Enjoy. You can also do a hard reset but that might be too much for that app.

Same here, iPhone XS running iOS 14 and iPad Mini 2019 running iPadOS 14.
Update: after some experimentation, I’ve found that the largest size News widget (the fourth one available if you swipe left when selecting the size) DOES display content as expected.
But the smaller size News widgets say “No stories”.
Update 2: try turning off “zoomed” view under Settings > Display and Brightness. That fixes the issue for me.
